What is a T Level?
A T Level is a two‑year, post‑16 qualification designed as an alternative to A Levels. Each T Level is equivalent in size and level to three A Levels and focuses on developing specialist knowledge and practical skills for a specific industry sector.
T Levels combine classroom‑based learning with a substantial industry placement of at least 45 days, giving students experience of real workplaces alongside academic study. They are designed in collaboration with employers to ensure students gain the skills and knowledge needed to progress into skilled employment, apprenticeships, or relevant degree courses.
T Levels are a full‑time programme and cannot be taken alongside A Levels. Students choose either one T Level or three A Levels. A T Levels is best suited to students who have a clear interest in a particular sector and enjoy applying learning in practical and real‑world contexts.
T Levels at Hazel Grove Sixth Form
As an academic Sixth Form with a strong tradition of A Level success, we are pleased to offer a T Level in Engineering as an alternative pathway.
Students choosing this route will study only the T Level and not A Levels, reflecting the full‑time nature and intensity of the qualification. This allows students to focus fully on developing both the academic understanding and practical skills required for progression.
Our T Level offer provides a high‑quality, well‑supported option for students whose strengths, interests and future plans align with a more technical and applied course, while maintaining the high expectations and progression outcomes that characterise our sixth form.
