Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
We believe that SEND is not about a label or diagnosis; it is defined by a student’s presentation of need and the level of support required to help them make progress in their education and achieve their full potential.
We recognise that every student is unique, and the support they receive should be personalised to their individual needs. The term ‘neurodiversity’ describes natural differences in the way people think, learn and behave. We celebrate this diversity and value the unique strengths and potential that neurodiverse young people bring to our school community.
Our Approach
We work closely with students, parents and carers, and a range of external agencies to:
- create an environment in which students with SEND can fulfil their potential
- enable students with SEND to develop independence both in school and in the wider world
- build a strong partnership in which the school, home and external agencies work together for the benefit of every student with SEND.
We understand that many families have faced challenges in securing the right support for their child, and we aim to work with you to remove these barriers.
We also recognise that SEND can be a complex area, with specialist terminology and statutory processes that can feel overwhelming for parents, carers and students to navigate.
