Hazel Grove Sixth Form has officially reopened, with a redeveloped look and a state-of-the-art building, offering a range of Academic courses for school leavers.

In 2020, Hazel Grove High School took the difficult decision to close the Sixth Form temporarily due to the building’s poor infrastructure.

Now, after two years of development, the Sixth Form has reopened with modern classrooms, state-of-the-art ICT provision, a refectory, outside spaces, an auditorium and independent study facilities.

A ceremonial event was held last week, welcoming guests from across the Hazel Grove community to get a first look at the building and its new facilities.

Attendees were welcomed by Head of School Martin Stewart, Director of Sixth Form Jo Lambert and students Elliot and Lizzie who gave an empowering speech on why they chose to study at Hazel Grove Sixth Form and how their teachers are already helping them on their way to the future of their choice.

Director of Sixth Form, Jo Lambert, said:
“We are so very pleased to be able to officially open our doors here at Hazel Grove Sixth Form. We know that the students joining us in our first cohort will benefit from learning in a professional and well-equipped environment with dedicated staff who will help them to realise not only their academic potential but also help them to embrace all aspects of wider culture throughout their time with us.

We know that they will also go on to be fantastic role models for subsequent cohorts and we look forward to welcoming many prospective students through our doors in the future.”

Hazel Grove MP, William Wragg, attended the event and went on to say:
“I’m delighted at the reopening of the Sixth Form, here in Hazel Grove. It’s so pleasing to see such fantastic new facilities and to meet some enthusiastic and confident students, I think that bodes well for the future, as well as their academic achievement, everything else [offered here] is creating well-rounded individuals.

“I’m hoping and I’m sure that in the years ahead, the Sixth Form will attract more students once word gets out about the fantastic facilities and the amazing results that will be coming. I wish it every success going forward.”

Hazel Grove Sixth Form’s Open Evening will take place on Wednesday 8th November from 6pm to 8:45pm, where prospective students and their families will be able to find out more.
