Students at Hazel Grove High School had the unique opportunity to meet England Lioness Chloe Kelly when the PlayStation Schools’ Cup came to the school.

PlayStation Schools’ Cup (PSCC) is a partnership between PlayStation and the English Schools’ Football Association. It involves one of the biggest grassroots football tournaments in the UK, and an inter-school EA Sports FC Championship.

As part of the launch, PlayStation gaming ambassadors SV2, AJ3, Elz the Witch, and footballer Chloe Kelly came to Hazel Grove High School to do some filming and meet our students.

Chloe Kelly scored the winning goal for England at the final of the UEFA Women’s Euro in 2022. She plays for the Lionesses as well as the Manchester City Women’s team.

Chloe led a warm-up exercise with a group of HGHS girls where they split into pairs and practiced different passing techniques.

After that, students enjoyed a Q&A session. Kelly answered questions about her early life, her football career and how it felt to be part of the winning team.

Ed Haslam, Trust Director of Sporting Excellence for the Laurus Trust, said:

“We were thrilled to welcome the PlayStation team and Chloe Kelly to Hazel Grove High School. Meeting Chloe was a fantastic opportunity for our girls to hear from a female role model and learn first-hand what it takes to be successful in sport at a professional level.”

Competition and Physical Endeavour is one of four cornerstones that underpin a Laurus education. Through this Cornerstone, students have access to sporting opportunities beyond those normally found in state education, helping them excel in sport.
