Today, our Year 10 Health and Social Care students did something truly special. They travelled to Early Essentials Manchester to deliver the incredible collection of donations gathered by our Hazel Grove High School community over the last few weeks. The minibus was absolutely full – from Moses baskets and newborn clothing to nappies, muslin squares, toiletries and thoughtful treats for parents. What began as a simple request for support quickly became a powerful display of generosity from students, families and staff.

When we arrived, Sarah from Early Essentials welcomed us and was visibly moved. She spoke honestly about the families they support – parents preparing for a new baby while facing enormous challenges. She shared how every single item we brought with us will go directly to a family in need, offering comfort, dignity and hope at one of the most important moments in their lives. Our students were a credit to the school. They listened, asked thoughtful questions and took the experience to heart. Seeing firsthand how these donations are used helped them understand the real impact of giving what you can, no matter how small it may seem.

For staff, it was one of those proud moments that stays with you. It reminded us of what can happen when a school community comes together with kindness and purpose. Today wasn’t just about donations – it was about compassion, connection and the difference young people can make when they choose to help others.
