Sports News

It has been a busy week for the PE department.

Year 7 Rugby

On Wednesday 7th December Hazel Grove’s year 7 boys rugby team were scheduled to play Kingsway’s year 7 boys rugby team at Heaton Moor RUFC. Both teams got off to a slow start with some sloppy passing leading to lots of turn overs for both teams and very little try scoring opportunities. Just before the interval saw some wonderful piece of skill by Hazel Groves captain R. Warhurst offloading the ball resulting in the first try of the match. From this, Hazel Grove boys dominated the match with tries coming from B.Styche, J.Shawhan, G.Billigham, V.Watson seeing Hazel Grove boys win the match 35 -0.

HGHS hosted Marple Hall in its first Lacrosse fixture of the year. In a four team round robin tournament HGHS finished 1st and 2nd. The games were played in a fantastic spirit and hope-fully will be the first of many fixtures in the sport around Stockport. Well done to all involved!

Well done to the lads below who visited Poynton High School on Thursday 8th December to com-pete in a Badminton fixture. There were 42 games played on the evening and unfortunately HGHS lost out 22-20. However, every match was played with great sportsmanship and we look forward to welcoming Poynton High School over to HGHS for a return fixture after Christmas.
