On Tuesday 7th November 2023, 45 students from Hazel Grove High School spent a day at the Royal Exchange Theatre.

The Year 10 students had a day full of exciting, hands-on learning as they took part in sessions focused on Romeo and Juliet.

The day was organised to support students’ GCSE English Literature studies, with Romeo and Juliet forming a key text in their learning about Shakespeare.

In the morning, they enjoyed workshops with the key cast and crew members.

They got a true behind the scenes look as they heard from the Director and members of the cast, costume design and sound engineering teams.

One lucky student was even picked to be dressed as Romeo!

In the afternoon, they watched their GCSE text come to life with a brilliant performance of Romeo and Juliet.

After the show, they took part in a Q&A with the actors.

This was a great opportunity for students to find out more about the play and deepen their understanding of Shakespeare.

We’d like to thank the cast, crew and everyone involved for making the day an equally educational and enjoyable experience!
