Hazel Grove High School is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Emma Moroney as our new Head of School.

Originally from Liverpool, Mrs Moroney graduated from the University of Manchester with a BA Honours degree in English Literature and History, followed by a First Class Master’s degree in Education and Leadership.

Speaking about her vision for the school, Mrs Moroney said:

“At Hazel Grove High School our ethos is simple: we care about how hard students work and how happy they are doing it. Anyone who gives 100% will thrive here.”

Reflecting on her new position as Head of School, Mrs Moroney emphasises the importance of a well-rounded education and her passion for ensuring every student has access to the very best opportunities, regardless of background:

“Exam results can get your foot in the door, but they don’t always keep you in the room. We want our students to aspire to the highest levels and leave us with the qualifications and experiences that open doors to their future. Our aim is to dismantle barriers and create a culture where effort and ambition lead to success.”

Martin Vevers, Executive Head of Secondary Education at the Laurus Trust, said:

“Emma brings over 17 years of experience in education and has held several senior leadership roles across Laurus Trust schools, including Trust Director for English, Assistant Head at Cheadle Hulme High School, and Deputy Head at both Hazel Grove High School and Laurus Cheadle Hulme. Our whole community is excited to see the positive impact of her leadership as she continues to build on the school’s strong foundations.”
