On Wednesday 12th November, our Year 9 and Year 10 ELITE Pathway student-athletes enjoyed their first trip of the academic year to Loughborough University.
The first session of the day was led by expert coaches from Speedworks Training, focusing on how to generate greater power and speed to help improve their performance.

After being put through their paces in the first session, they had worked up an appetite and were therefore ready for their second session of the day. Our student-athletes worked collaboratively to cook up a storm in the kitchen at the Elite Athlete Centre, refuelling with homemade chicken fajita wraps and beef teriyaki stir fry.

The afternoon saw our student-athletes begin to analyse their own strengths and areas of development in relation to the characteristics and personal qualities needed to become top in their respective fields. This session was led by Professor David Fletcher who works with top-level athletes across a range of sports.

The group finished the day with a strength and conditioning session in the amazing powerbase – one of the world’s largest elite strength and conditioning environments.
Engaging superbly in a range of sessions throughout the day, our student-athletes were a credit to themselves, the ELITE Pathway and our school. We’re already looking forward to our next visit later on this year!
