There was a lot happening in Hazel Grove High School last week as we celebrated World Book Day.

World Book Day is a campaign that changes lives through a love of books and reading.

During the week, students got involved in a variety of book-themed activities including a ‘Masked Reader’ quiz, a scavenger hunt, book giveaways and more!

We also had the Big Read for Years 7, 8 and 10, which saw students reading a novel in a day!

As part of the celebrations, staff in each department dressed as a different book.

Students were asked to vote for which department they thought was the best dressed.

There were some brilliant costumes, but there had to be a winner…

In 3rd place, we had History who dressed as Mr Tom and his evacuees from Goodnight Mr Tom

In 2nd place, we had Maths with Alice in Wonderland

And in 1st place, with a fantastic rendition of a Roald Dahl classic, the Art department dressed as The Twits and Muggle-Wump!

World Book Day is a chance for people across the world to celebrate fantastic stories and the magic of reading.

At Hazel Grove High School, we strive for our students to develop an appreciation of the way in which great literature can change, develop and enrich our lives.
