Last term, while we were still in lockdown, some of our students in Year 9 – 11 competed in the UK Maths Trust Challenge. There were some fantastic results achieved but one student excelled.

In the first round, Year 9 student Henry was one of a number of our students to achieve the silver award but after placing in the top 1,500 he progressed to the final stage of the competition, The Grey Kangaroo.

In the finals Henry excelled himself yet again, placing in the top 25% to achieve a prestigious Certificate of Merit.

The UK Maths Trust is an organisation dedicated to advancing the education of young people in Mathematics. Its aim is to inspire a love of problem solving through competitions and activities and its mathematical challenges are popular with schools and students of all ages throughout the UK.

We’re incredibly proud of Henry and he has now become the first Year 9 student to be awarded a Headteacher’s badge, in recognition of all his hard work and success.
