It’s been a busy month here at Hazel Grove High School! Here is a round-up of just some of the things our students have been getting up to…

Celebrating Shakespeare

We had a fantastically Shakespearean time celebrating the birth of the Bard when we returned from the Easter break.

From Shakespearean Scavenger Hunting at break time to Shakespeare vs Pop Quizzing in form time, there was a little bit of theatrical magic all across the school! Our newly formed Hazel Grove Shakespeare Company even took over the school, performing at lunchtime in the Library!

Different subjects also included a dash of Shakespeare in their lessons. Students examined Shakespeare as a businessman, explored the mathematics of sonnets, and studied Elizabethan science.

Well done and thank you to all involved – particularly our competition winners, Miss Desmond, and our Shakespeare Company performers.

Imperial College London visit our school

Imperial College London visited HGHS this month.

This is the first time the prestigious institution has held outreach events of this type in the North West and we were absolutely thrilled to have them!

They ran sessions to small groups of our Year 10 students, focusing on applying to Imperial and other competitive Russell Group Universities. They also gave advice to students about how to make good A-Level subject choices for future study.

Lots of food for thought!

Year 7 Football Team have a fantastic season

The Year 7 Football Team continued their superb season with a 1-0 victory over St James in the Stockport Schools League Final.

Every player received the coveted PE badge for their achievements.

A huge congratulations to all of the squad!

That’s all from us…we hope you are enjoying a well-deserved half term break!
