Design and Technology students learn from expert Simon Artley

Thank you to Simon Artley from SETA Engineering who joined Year 9 and 10 GCSE Design and Technology students to explain the links between design and technology and the engineering industry.

The students were given insights into the different materials used and how they link to physics and material properties. The students learned how parts are precisely machined to fit onto aeroplanes, cars and huge pieces of machinery. The students were able to ask about our  engineer’s career path, and the routes they could take to follow in his footsteps into the engineering industry via apprenticeships and work-based placements. A great insight into local engineering!
