Applications to enrol for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award are now open to our current Year 9s, giving them the opportunity to join the team from September.

There is no limit to DofE numbers for next year but students who want to take part are required to show their commitment by completing the DofE Initium Challenge.

This a short, two-week challenge where students are expected to complete a minimum of two hours activity with a skill, physical or volunteering element.

As evidence of completing the challenge, students will need to write a short paragraph describing their experience and submit it to school by Wednesday 14 July. Parents & carers should have received a Microsoft form to enable them to do this but for those struggling to access the form, a handwritten paragraph will also be accepted.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award, with three progressive levels leading to the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.

By taking part in the programme young people are given the opportunity to develop skills such as communication, leadership and teamwork as well as building their confidence and resilience.

All students who complete the Initium Challenge will receive 10 house points and will be offered a place on the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.
