Safeguarding Introduction

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as: protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children’s mental health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Within the Laurus Trust, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Our approach is child-centred and we consider, at all times, what is in the best interest of the child.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Hazel Grove High School is Miss C Franklin, Deputy Head of School. Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) is Miss B Parry, Head of Pastoral Care
