NQT Appropriate Body

The appointment of an Appropriate Body (AB) is a statutory requirement for the induction period of Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs).

The AB makes the final decision as to whether an NQT has met the teachers’ standards on the recommendation of the Head Teacher/Principal.

Cheadle Hulme High School, lead school of the Altius Alliance, has been registered as an Appropriate Body since September 2014 and has successfully supported schools in the UK and the UAE.

The service includes telephone/email support for schools in registering NQTs for induction and submitting termly reports. Termly reports will be quality assured to ensure NQTs are being sufficiently supported and making expected progress. Upon registration we write to NQTs to provide contact details in the event that they may require our support or advice during their induction. On request we can provide briefings in the summer term for newly appointed Induction Tutors and briefings in the autumn term for NQTs to make them aware of their entitlements but more importantly in taking responsibility for managing their own induction and professional development.

The cost for the service is £285 per NQT (£95 per term).
