Extra Curricular Activities
We feel that it is essential that all students have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities. As a result we have an extensive range of clubs and activities which run at lunch times and after school.
All curriculum areas offer enrichment and extra-curricular activities
Extra-Curricular Club in Sport
Over the coming academic year, it is hoped that your son/daughter will express an interest in getting involved in extra-curricular activities within the school. If this is the case, it will involve them taking part in activities on and off the school premises, travelling to other venues within Stockport Borough and on occasions to other Local Educations Authorities.
Such activities involve travel to other venues and use various forms of transport, including walking, school minibus and local private hire minibus and coaches.
When your son, daughter is involved in an extra-curricular activity, using one of the above modes of transport, he/she will be fully supervised at all times by qualified staff from within the school. Transport arrangements also include the return journey to the school where it is anticipated that the students will then make their own arrangements home. All return times to school are estimates and are subject to change, usually due to traffic. In these instances, students will be permitted to contact home using their personal mobiles or the school trip phone.
Details for activities and fixtures will be issued to your son/daughter. For frequent clubs/fixtures, this will be verbal and displayed on the PE noticeboards. This information can be copied down by students. For more infrequent activities/fixtures such as tournaments and day trips, a letter will be sent home via your child.
To support the direct communication of the department with sporting events and achievements, we also have a twitter account that is updated daily. Please follow us @HGHS_PE. We also welcome celebrating the successes of students outside of school and so would like to hear of these directly via the school telephone number – 0161 456 4888 or firstname.lastname@example.org
For all offsite fixtures, the trip leader will take a full list of emergency and medical details for the students attending. Therefore, it is paramount the information on the school system is accurate and up to date.
In representing the school, all students are expected to demonstrate the highest standards of behaviour and conduct as well as wearing the full school PE kit.
In the event of fixtures being cancelled or rearranged, students will be informed at the earliest convenience verbally and then given the opportunity to contact home. If this is on the day of the event, students have the choice to remain in school and partake in alternative sporting activities for the duration of the event for convenience of not having to rearrange personal transportation home.
