Letter home from Chair of Governors
4th September 2019
Dear Parent/Carer, I am writing to inform you of the good news that the Secretary of State for Education has signed off the transfer for Hazel Grove High School to join the Laurus Trust. We are delighted to have successfully completed this process and to have the official go ahead, especially in the current political climate. My thanks go to Cherry Franklin, Ben Vickers, Anna Cohen and Julia Oldham and their teams for all of their hard work in ensuring that we had everything in place to make this possible.
Also, it is my great pleasure to welcome Martin Stewart, Head Teacher and Martin Vevers, Executive Head, to the HGHS community. I am sure that staff, parents/carers and pupils will join me in wishing them well as they begin their time at the school.
We have already seen some of the changes that being part of a wider trust brings in the work done to the school over the summer break: the ICT overhaul and the improvements to the buildings are going to have a positive impact on the school from the very start of this academic year. Again, thanks to the teams that have worked so hard to make this happen in a short space of time. This is a very exciting time for the school and I wish staff and students well as we move in to a new academic year.
