DofE Year 9 & 12 Information
We would like to say how proud we are of the positive attitude and determination your child has shown during the Edge days so far this year. Each Duke of Edinburgh group has improved the school environment by planting trees donated by the Woodland Trust and have developed their camp-craft skills learning how to use stoves and build tents. They have worked exceptionally well as a team and demonstrated good leadership, team-building and listening skills.
In order to complete the Bronze DofE award, it is required that all students complete the expedition element of the scheme by carrying out a practice and qualifying expedition, both of which are two days including one-night camping.
It will be the first time most students have the opportunity to go and explore the countryside independently so we are aware parents might have questions regarding the Duke of Edinburgh expedition section or the award as a whole. Typical queries include: required kit, food to carry, camping arrangements, medical specifics and timings. Consequently, we will be holding a DofE Information Evening (see below). We suggest parents/carers attend this evening and where possible bring their child, light refreshments will be provided. If you cannot attend the DofE Information Evening, we will publish the PowerPoint and any FAQ’s on the DofE Show My Homework Page.

We are asking that all payments for the DofE enrolment (£30), DofE Practice expedition (£30) and Qualifying expedition (£35) are complete by the 1st June 2019.
