Summer of Success

Students at Hazel Grove High School were delighted to receive their GCSE results after a long summer of waiting. This summer saw the first introduction of the new 1-9 gradings in English and Maths and the first cohort did extremely well. With 76% of students passing English with 70% passing Mathematics the strong results reflect another successful summer at HGHS.

Amongst the celebrating students were Olivia Downs who achieved 7 A* grades along with Grade 8 in English and Maths. Samantha Munyebvu with 7 A* and A grades also with Grade 8 in English but was also celebrating collecting a top grade 9 in Maths.

Morgan Hallsworth collected a top Grade 9 award in English along with 7 other grades at A* and further grade 9 success was achieved by Ashley Travis and Jessica Connors in Maths and Aryan Issar in English. Well done to all these students, a fantastic achievement.

Davina Christie and Olivia Skidmore were also amongst the high achievers with both girls celebrating Grade 8’s in English and Maths and 6 other A* and A grades.

Headteacher Mark Sibson commented “We are immensely proud of the achievements of the students, their hard work has paid off and they can rightly celebrate some stunning individual results.

The students have coped brilliantly with all the changes brought in this year and we couldn’t be happier for those who have achieved what they wanted. Well done to all our students who worked so hard, you are a credit to the school and your families. I look forward to seeing many of them in the Sixth Form in September. Thank you to all the parents that supported the students and staff who worked hard in ensuring such high levels of teaching and support.

The school continues year on year to celebrate great exam success and I am thrilled for the Class of 2017 that, despite lots of changes, to exams that this year is no different.”
