Artist in residence at HGHS
In the Art Department here at Hazel Grove High School there is an exciting new project: ceramicist Jade Alana Ashton is the department’s Artist in Residence, running a series of after-school and lunchtime workshops that will culminate in exhibitions in August and December 2017.
Jade is an artist who works in ceramics and mixed media; she is concerned with issues of the environment and biodiversity, resulting in installations containing hand-built and mixed media pieces (https://jadealanaart.wordpress.com). The workshops with the pupils will explore ceramic and mixed media techniques, research in and around the gardens in Hazel Grove High School, and engagement with botanical collections and specimens. This collaboration will result in the artwork being displayed within the School’s gardens, and exhibited at Manchester galleries in August and December 2017. Additionally, Jade has been granted funding by Arts Council England for this Residency project at HGHS.
