Non Uniform Day - Friday 12th May
On Friday 12th May Da Vinci House will be holding a whole school non-uniform day to raise awareness of our charity which, this year, will be Stockport MIND. This coincides with the national Mental Health Awareness week across the country.
Stockport Mind is an independent adult mental health charity that offers friendly, accessible support and information to promote well-being in the community. Stockport Mind was set up by a group of volunteers in 1971 and is affiliated to National Mind, one of the leading mental health charities in England and Wales. It is run by a board of Trustees, volunteers and paid staff, a proportion of whom have experienced mental distress. Stockport and District Mind strives to work towards a society where people who experience mental distress are supported in their recovery and are free from stigma and discrimination and are empowered to reach their full potential.
During this week we will also be doing assemblies and having sessions in tutor time on ‘What is good mental health?’ If you feel that your child requires any support in this area, please do contact their Head of House for further advice or support.
A suggested donation for the non-uniform day is £1. If you would like to give more, then further donations will be gratefully received on behalf of Stockport MIND.
If you would like any more information about the work that Stockport MIND do, please visit their website at www.stockportmind.org.uk and you can see the kind of work that we are helping to support. Please take the opportunity to talk to your son/daughter about the activities that are going on in school and the things that they are learning from our charity work in Da Vinci House.
