Congratulations to our GCSE Students

Students from Hazel Grove High School were celebrating today after the securing an impressive set of GCSE results.

The number of students securing a 5 or above in both maths and English has significantly improved and students collectively achieved 50 grade 9s and over 100 grade 8s. In addition. 60% of all exams sat achieved at least a grade 5.

Ben Vickers, Deputy Headteacher, said: “This year’s results are testament to the determination of our talented students and staff, and the support of our parent body.

“These students took on the challenge that we set them and really have grasped the opportunities available. I am delighted to see substantial improvement in attainment across the curriculum, capped by a number of exceptional individual performances.”

Among the smiling face at the school were a number of students who achieved a huge number of the highest grades.

  • Rosemary Cowden, who achieved an amazing five grade 9s, four grade 8s and an A for Further Maths. Rosemary is looking forward to starting at Hazel Grove Sixth Form in September.
  • William Winter achieved six grade 9s four grade 8s and an A* for Further Maths.
  • Ebony Lane achieved two grade 9s, five grade 8s, one grade 7 and one grade six.
  • Lauran Brown achieved two grade 9s, five grade 8s, one grade 7, one grade 6 and an A*.
  • William Morris achieved five grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7, a BTEC Distinction and a grade B.
  • Hannah Shaw achieved three grade 9s, one grade 8, two grade 7s, a BTEC Distinction and a grade C.
  • James Walker achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s, one grade 7 and an A in further Maths.

Mr Vickers added: “On behalf of the entire school community, I congratulate our fantastic students on their achievements.
