Holocaust survivor Assembly

Today we welcomed Lady  Milena Grenfell-Baines (MBE), a volunteer from Holocaust Educational Trust, who spoke to the whole of year 8 about her experiences of being a Jew in the holocaust.  We learnt about her having to leave her family with her young sister on the Kindertransport to England, where she was eventually (and miraculously) reunited with her parents some years later.

We learnt of the loss of the rest of her family she left behind and of the heartbreaking stories of other Jewish people from her country.  Her message was one of standing by people, even strangers, and making the most of life no matter what it throws at you.  A true inspiration.
