HAZEL GROVE HIGH SCHOOL

Outstanding A level Results!

Congratulations to our A level students on another set of outstanding results!

99% Pass rate (A-E)

94% A* - C

27% A*/ A

66% A*/ B

We are pleased to announce yet another impressive year of A Level results at Hazel Grove Sixth Form with a pass rate of 99%. An average of one in four entries achieved grades A* to A with well over half achieving grades A* to B.

Early indicators show that our students have once again made outstanding progress from their 2016 GCSE starting-points, bettering the achievements of last year’s cohort. These indicators suggest that our overall value added score will be positive.

Mark Sibson, Headteacher, said, "We are thrilled with the outstanding success of our students A Levels results, with 2018’s results being the highest that we have ever achieved. It has been a busy morning and we are pleased to see so many of our students achieving their expected places at Russel Group universities and a wide range of other Universities and Higher apprenticeship providers. Students also secured top university places such as Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and University College London, amongst others. These results demonstrate that the School is continuously providing high quality education to students in the local area and more importantly that students feel challenged and supported to achieve their very best.”

In Physics, PE, History, Government and Politics, English Literature, French, Sociology and over 30% of students achieved A* or A grades.

We want to congratulate all our students and wish them well as they take up their places at university, apprenticeships, employment, or begin their gap year. Some of our students were able to overcome really challenging personal circumstances to achieve excellent results. This was partly due to the support and guidance given to them by the school, parents, and due to their hard work so well done to them as well.

There were some excellent individual successes including:

Alice Bentley, A in French, A* in Textiles, A in Physics and A* in Maths is now studying Maths with French at Manchester University.

Samantha Fulton, A in Biology, A in History, A* in Psychology and A* in EPQ is now studying Psychology at Durham University.

Emily Haig, A in Business Studies, A in English Literature, A in Media Studies and A in EPQ is now studying Fashion and Marketing at Nottingham Trent.

Harry Meats, A* in Biology, A in Chemistry and A in Maths is now studying Masters in Chemistry at Sheffield University
