We are writing to you to remind you that the law states that all young people will be required to participate in some form of education and training until their 18th birthday.

Young people can continue to study or train in several ways:

  • By studying full-time in a school sixth form or at a college;
  • By taking up an apprenticeship;
  • By other full-time work or volunteering, combined with part-time accredited education or training

Stockport Council has organised a parents’ information evening to help you and your child make informed choices about your child’s next steps at 16, 18 and beyond.

This event has grown in popularity year on year and provides a wealth of information on post-16 options, admissions processes, course content and support available, all in one place. Please note no appointment needed.

The institutions in attendance vary slightly each year and will include Stockport colleges and School Sixth Forms, Apprenticeship, Training providers within 15 miles of Stockport, as well as support services.
