Hazel Grove High School

House Information

At Hazel Grove High there is a dedicated, non-teaching Pastoral team; made up of the Director of Student Welfare and four Heads of House. The students are allocated to a House when they join in Year 7.

Mrs S Fox - Director of Student Welfare
Mrs D Lowe – Nightingale House
Mrs E Tiffany – Brunel House
Mrs C Brown – Da Vinci House
Mrs S Foord – Fibonacci House

Students remain in their House throughout their time at school, as well as with their form teacher.

The Pastoral team work closely with the teaching staff to promote the emotional, social and academic well-being of all students and are available to students before and after school and also during break and lunch times.

The pastoral team liaise with a wide range of external agencies such as, Mosaic, Beacon Counselling, The Proud Trust, Sex & Relationships Team, Youth Offending and Prevention Service, School Nursing, CAMHS, Stockport Children’s Services, School buses, Education Welfare Service, Hazel Grove Baptist Church, the ASD partnership, to name but a few. It is this close working relationship that allows us to provide a tailored level of holistic care to meet the needs of our students.

This year’s chosen charities are:

Nightingale- Foodbank and Signpost Young Carers
Brunel – The Christie Hospital and the Samaritan’s Christmas shoe box appeal
Da Vinci – Stockport Mind
Fibonacci – The Neo-Natal Unit at Stepping Hill Hospital.

Heads of House develop long term relationships with the students and their families as they support them throughout the five years or more that they are in school. This relationship enables the Pastoral team to create strong bonds with students and support them socially and emotionally. As a team we promote the emotional well- being of all our students, and it is through these relationships that we help students to become independent, resilient, caring and successful young people.
